Il volume illustra le peculiarità costruttive e le vicende inerenti la storia dei pregevoli strumenti musicali custoditi presso il Museo Regionale di Palazzo Mirto (Palermo) che, nel 2011, sono stati oggetto di un intervento di restauro funzionale. La collezione include due orologi musicali francesi della fine del XVIII secolo, un raro organo a cilindro del viennese Anton Beyer (Napoli, 1840 ca.), un pianoforte a coda di Mathias Jakesch (Vienna, 1827 ca.), un pianoforte a coda della fabbrica Pleyel Wolff et Compagnie (Parigi, 1858), un pianoforte verticale della manifattura Koelliker & Grammer (Zurigo, 1870 ca.).

Abstract The Ritratto muliebre, referring to Venus, is a panel painting, oil on wood, attributed to unknown artist and probably dated to the second half of 16th century, today conserved in the Galleria Interdisciplinare Regionale della Sicilia—Palazzo Mirto of Palermo. The aim of this research was to assess the techniques used to decorate the wooden painting and to verify the state of conservation of the artwork's materials but also to identify the previous treatments.
